This is what I based the hand-drawn letterforms on...I went through all of the sentences that I chose to be in my book and just did the letters that were going to be in it. After doing that I realised it would have probably been easier to just do a whole alphabet...at least I could have then used it in the future! Silly mistake.
I then vectorised them so I could erase the stroke etc. and it would be easier to work with.
The more I look at them like this...the less the look set back?
